Apperance: The beer is clear dark red with hints of brown, a tan head with unevenly sized bubbles, some lacing and good curtains. (4)
Aroma: The smell is earthy, dried peas, hay, dark bread and brown sugar. (3.5)
Taste: Initially sweet nuances from bread, dark syrup, burned crust, dates, nuts, then some short fruit acidity, pears and mango, and a bitter finish in the coffee bean area. (4)
Palate: Medium carbonation, a thick oily feeling, a heavy body and slightly dry finish. (4.5)
Overall: A solid slow sipping beer after dinner. (4)
