Apperance: The beer pours dark brown, almost black, a brown heavy head that recedes slowly. Leaves lots of lacing. (4.5) Aroma: The smell is rather weak, roasted tones, sweet rather much caramel malt, almost dusty, like an old dark closet. (3) Taste: The taste is partly sour, vinegar, very roasted - coffee aromas. A bitterness that lingers for a while. (4) Palate: Medium carbonated, a bit watery for starters, but then finish of in a nice dry feeling. (3.5) Overall: Well, it's a Guinness, and as such a classic and reliable brew - but there are far better and interesting stouts. (3.5)
