Apperance: The color is chestnut brown, a bit hazy, the beige head is settling quickly with a fizzling sound, nearly no lacing. (2.5) Aroma: The smell has sour tones like a musky old cellar, damp old wood. Ash and concrete. (2) Taste: Taste from the smoke infused barrels is dominating, which takes the focus away from any hops, also a bit sweet and sour. A chalky resemblance. (2) Palate: Low carbonation, rather soft liquid. (3) Overall: This beer was a bit old, and had not aged well at all. In general cask aged beer is complex and can be rounder after some storing. But this was not a nice combination. (2)
