Apperance: An almost black beer with hints of deep ruby. A small head and little lace. (4) Aroma: The smell is full of woody smoke but well balanced with deep coffee aromas and dark chocolate. A distant sweetness from dried dates and figs. (4) Taste: The taste is more dominated by the coffee/chocolate but also smoked sausage and charcoal. A nice bitter but not dominant aftertaste. (4.5) Palate: The carbonation is surprisingly active, with many small bubbles. (4) Overall: A really good beer for a dark and cold night. (4.5)
