Apperance: The beer is dark brown with an orange tone, a dark beige head which leaves a little lacing. (3.5) Aroma: The smell is complex with notes of grapefruit, coffee, malt, and some some "Christmas" spice (ginger?). (4) Taste: The taste fulfills the promises of the smell, and further increases the complexity with dark (almost burnt) bread. Very little sweetness, but in the chocolate toffee area. (4.5) Palate: The beer is creamy and leaves a warm afterglow of rich bitter tones. (4) Overall: In all a very good winter beer, to enjoy slowly whilst the snow is falling. (4.5)
